Autograph sentiment dated 6 April 1905, signed by Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi in black ink on album page; measures 6″ x 4″ (15 x 10 cm), light age stains, otherwise very good condition.
In 1905 Marconi received the Chevalier of the Civil Order of Savoy, a knighthood of the highest honor bestowed by the House of Savoy, one of the oldest royal families in the world, having been founded in 1003. Membership as a chevlaier is limited to just 70 people.
Marchese Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) was best known for his development of a radiotelegraph system, which served as the foundation for the establishment of numerous affiliated companies worldwide. He shared the 1909 Nobel Prize in Physics with Karl Ferdinand Braun, “in recognition of their contributions to the development of wireless telegraphy”.
