Shirley Temple
Shirley Temple
Rare Early Signed Photo - 1938
Shirley Temple Portrait. Autographed Still (5.5″ x 7″). Penciled date on verso February 8, 1938. This lovely item is a wonderful still portrait from 20th Century Fox studios circa 1938 of perhaps the most famous child star of all time, Shirley Temple. This photograph is inscribed in green ink by Shirley as a child, “To Alice, Love, Shirley Temple.” For the Shirley collector it just doesn’t get better than this, as our understanding is that she signed very little material in this period in her life since most were secretarial signatures. Her early signed photos are almost non-existent. In fine condition, with a couple of minor corner tip creases. COA from UACC Dealer #RD043. Custom framed with archival materials.
Shirley Temple (1928–2014) was an Academy Award-winning actress most famous for being an iconic American child actor of the 1930s, who enjoyed a notable career as a diplomat as an adult. After rising to fame at the age of six with her breakthrough performance in Bright Eyes in 1934, she starred in a series of highly successful films which won her widespread public adulation and saw her become the top grossing star at the American box-office during the height of the Depression. She went on to star in films as a young adult in the 1940s. In later life, she became a United States ambassador and diplomat.
