Scarce inaugural issue of the Sal Mineo Fan Club Journal, dated July 1957 and signed by the actor. The fan who received this newsletter was one of several neighborhood kids invited into Sal’s home by his mother, all of whom were neighbors of the Mineo family in New York’s Bronx borough during the 1950s. An effusive handwritten letter by “Diane” accompanies this item, telling the story of how she and her friends got to meet their idol, Sal Mino, when he was just 18. An interesting piece of Hollywood history. 7 pages back to back, stapled at top left, filled with photos of Mineo in recent films, letters to his fans and other fan club gossip of the era. Some tears around the edge owing to handling over the years, but generally in good condition.
