David Rubinoff (1897-1986) was an immensely popular Russian violinist, known for having the "Maurin" Romanoff Stradivarius violin, originally made in Cremona, Italy, in 1731. Often billed as Rubinoff and his Violin, John Philip Sousa first introduced him to school assemblies in 1914, and Eddie Cantor made him famous with millions of radio listeners during the 1930s and 1940s. Over the years Rubinoff performed at the White House for presidents Herbert Hoover, Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy.
