QUEEN ELIZABETH II
Queen Elizabeth II
Official Royal Portrait Signed - 1966
Regal vintage large format, matte-finish 10" x 14" full length photograph portrait of the Queen regnant, Elizabeth II, resplendent in a sequined gown, sash and crown, expressively signed in the lower border in ink, "Elizabeth R 1966." Portrait by Anthony Buckley, official photographer to the Royal Family, affixed to its original 13" x 20" mount, with photographer's numbered studio stamp on verso.
As is the tradition on all British Royal Navy ships, this is the actual official portrait that hung in the Officer's Wardroom (Mess) aboard the destroyer "H.M.S. Glamorgan," one of the ships engaged in the Falklands War in 1982. A notation on the reverse of the photograph establishes the provenance. The ship was decommissioned in 1986.
In fine condition, with signature a shade or two light, but completely legible. A distinguished portrait of the Queen, just 14 years into a reign lasting, as of this writing, over 60 years. Modern bromide print from original negative, 1965, in fine condition. A similar original hangs in London's National Portrait Gallery.
