I am so very sorry not to have written before to thank Mr. Blair and yourself for the entertaining luncheon party. We have been travelling at such top speed that the desks have gone by much too quickly…We loved our day in Chicago and the time spent in your charming home was certainly the most delightful and relaxing. We had a cold and snowy visit to the ranch but I hope the place will profit from our efforts. When Mr. Blair and yourself come to Paris the Duke and myself hope so much that you will let us know so that we can arrange something for you. Again with the Duke’s and my thanks and all good wishes to you both I am

WINDSOR, WALLIS, Duchess of (1895-1986). American-born wife of the former Edward VIII; still married when she became the Prince of Wales’s mistress, she divorced in 1936, shortly before Edward became King upon the death of his father, George V; he soon proposed to Wallis, but their marriage was not acceptable to his family or the British Government; Edward abdicated and was created Duke of Windsor by his brother, the new George VI.
