Carl Sandburg Typed Letter Signed to Mississippi College Professor - 1927
American poet Carl Sandburg writes to Elmer Ford, professor of Modern Languages at Mississippi College, on letterhead for Chicago Daily News dated November 10, 1927. In a follow-up letter to his previous letter dated September 8, Sandburg writes:
Dear Mr. Ford:
During my work on Lincoln and on The American Songbag I have met a number of collectors. There are fellows who consider your thesis in French a very interesting item for their collections. Would you have the patience and goodness to send me another batch as before in exchange for this check for $10.00? Mail as before to me at 331 S. York St., Elmhurst, Illinois.
Faithfully yours,
/s/ Carl Sandburg
Sandburg had just published his acclaimed two-volume history Abraham Lincoln: The Prairie Years (Blue Ribbon Books, 1926) and The American Songbag (Harcourt, Brace, 1927).
