Paul Renard
Original Oil on Canvas “Paris Street Scene”
Original oil painting on canvas, a lovely Paris street scene, painted by artist Paul Renard (1941-1997), signed but undated, in a stunning gilded and beautifully filigreed wood frame. Canvas measures 7″ x 9″, framing overall 13.5″ x 16″.
The art of Paul Renard can best described as a true love story. He remained faithful his entire live to painting the soft scenes that he saw around him as a boy of the bustling sidewalks of Paris. He applied his sensitive and consuming fascination, with seeking to capture the beauty of French city life and country rivers on canvas as he saw them right up until his death. He wanted others to sense, see and feel what he spent his life adoring.
Moreover, as in the greatest of love stories, Renard patiently studied and savored every nuance of his chosen affection. From the magnificence of lush river scenes of his birthplace in La Grenouillere, to the life-swollen Parisian streets, his magic brush strokes entice the viewer to experience the evanescence of the life he knew. There exists what might even be called a gentleness in the treatment of subjects on canvas, and an obvious respect for the integration of nature with mankind. He shares with the viewer his vision of the delicate beauty of light, color, humanity, and balance whether the subject is cobblestone streets, flowers, animals, flowing waters, or people tending to their daily lives. Renard added his very special love into each and every object. He sees, after all, only the beauty of his great mistress.
